More Like a Dream
As important political issues seem to escalate around the globe, I feel an overwhelming sense of uncertainty. I rely on the media to keep me informed; simultaneously, I am constantly questioning the truth in the information that is shared. I internalize reality and then return it transformed. I want to create images that speak to other’s emotions as well as my own. Subtleties of the ordinary become exaggerated and the perception of what is real grows ambiguous. My everyday reality is the subject as I focus on the details that surround us but may go unnoticed. Familiar elements are combined in odd ways, giving a surreal sense to the world we live in. What we think is truth, becomes harder to discern and more like a dream. One is left with only a memory resembling what was once real.
